In the footsteps of the Buddha: Online Week Retreat

This retreat is suitable for those who have a regular meditation practice and who regularly attend retreats, a centre or a group within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. You will also need to be familiar with, and happy to participate in, Triratna Buddhist devotional practice and ritual (puja), be comfortable with extended periods of sitting meditation and the possibility on some retreats of periods spent in silence.

This online retreat costs £80 to book, plus a recommended donation of £60-90

(this can be paid at the booking checkout).

Please note:

1. That the automated booking confirmation that you will receive will contain information that relates to a residential retreat, so please ignore that. It would cost money that we don't currently have to change our systems to reflect the circumstances of these special online events.

2. You will receive a joining email from us close to the start of each event (ideally the day before), with a Zoom link that will work for the whole of that particular retreat online event.

3. Zoom is a simple online communications platform that is very easy to use. If you have not used it before, we suggest that you download this programme and install for free before your retreat is due to take place. You can find the programme at this link: https://zoom.us/download. If you have any questions about using Zoom, please contact us at bookings@rivendellretreatcentre.com

Retreat Details:

On this online retreat, with a sense of imagination, adventure and playfulness, we will explore the images, myths and symbols of the Buddha’s journey to Awakening. These mythic images from the Buddha’s story also touch upon the deeper archetypal currents in our own lives. On the retreat we will imaginatively dwell upon the major turning points in the life of the Buddha and reflect on their resonance in our own experience. So, rather than seeing the Buddha as a distant historical figure, we will see how his life embodies the very real journey we all need to embark upon to live a fully human life. With talks, storytelling, meditation, ritual and discussion.

Please note: This retreat runs from 10.30 Saturday to 12.30 Friday.

Daily schedule UK time:
10.30 - 12.30 Morning session.
16.00 - 17.30 Afternoon session.
19.30 - 20.30 Evening session.

Nagasiddhi regularly leads and supports retreats at Rivendell and is also an artist. He is known for the sense of humour and creativity he brings to his dharma teaching. In particular, he helps others make connections between the dharma and their own lives by using stories and images from the 'western' tradition. His own artwork can be viewed at nagasiddhi.com.
