Dharma No Drama - New Year Retreat 2017/2018

This retreat is suitable for those who have a regular meditation practice and who regularly attend retreats, a centre or a group within the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community. You will also need to be familiar with, and happy to participate in, Triratna Buddhist devotional practice and ritual (puja), be comfortable with extended periods of sitting meditation and the possibility on some retreats of periods spent in silence.

“Sit down wherever you are, And listen to the wind singing in your veins. Feel the love, the longing, and the fear in your bones. Open your heart to who you are, right now, Not who you would like to be...” – From ‘Forget About Enlightenment’ by John Welwood

The Dharma presents us with an invitation to turn towards our experience just as it is, moment to moment. The New Year can be a time of big plans for the future where we imagine the next great chapter in our lives. This retreat offers the opposite: to step out of that story, our own personal narrative, or even ‘drama’. A time to dwell in our present experience more fully, open to everything that naturally arises. What happens when we slow our lives down and pay simple attention to ourselves and the world around us? Possibly out of that stillness new possibilities may arise that we might not have ever imagined... With meditation, ritual, discussion, gentle body work and days spent in silence.
