Yoga & Meditation Long Weekend (with Satyamati)

This retreat is suitable for those new to meditation and Buddhism as practised within the Triratna Buddhist Community.

Deepening our exploration of Yoga and Meditation, including Pranayama, Yoga Nidra and Ritual, we will create a rich, open inquiry into this being human, all within the context of Buddhism.

Come along and enjoy practicing together, in the magical realm of Rivendell.

Satyamati has been teaching Yoga for nearly 50 years. She is a British Wheel of Yoga teacher and Sivananda teacher (India). As a qualified Sports Massage Therapist, safe alignment is crucial to her teaching, the body, moving, holding and opening, using the Bandhas to support the practice, working from the deep energetic core, with all the senses alive and vibrant. Through the practice we connect deeply to the Elements, to Aliveness and the Pranic body. Asana, Pranayama and Yoga Nidra connect within the flow of deep awareness and presence.

As an Ordained Buddhist Satyamati leads within the framework of the Buddha's teaching, with kindness and encouragement, working in stages, so that all can benefit from whatever part of the practice is available to them.

Please note that this retreat is open to people with a regular practice of Yoga.

These retreats offer the opportunity to combine the practice of yoga with the added depth of awareness that meditation creates. All our yoga teachers are practising Buddhists who aim to integrate yoga into an overall context of the Buddha’s teaching. An introduction to Buddhist meditation will be taught on the retreats, which will also include Buddhist teaching, devotional practice, chanting and periods of silence.

Typically, on these retreats there will be two comprehensive sessions of yoga each day, one first thing in the morning and another in the afternoon, alongside meditation instruction, discussion, ritual and quiet time to relax and reflect.

Covid-secure requirements

We still have some Covid related requirements that we believe helps to ensure that Rivendell is a safer environment (such as asking each retreatant to take a lateral flow test and letting the office know the result before travelling to Rivendell), and we will only accept bookings on the basis that those who attend our retreats abide by the requirements of our Covid risk assessment.

We want those that come to Rivendell to be confident that we are making their stay here as safe as possible.
